Make your own Visual Supports for the Classroom!

Why I love Smarty Symbols…

I get asked ALL the time by teachers, SNAs and parents about how I design and create the visual supports that I use in my classroom and sell on my website. The answer is Smarty Symbols! I have been using Smarty Symbols for the past two years and I can’t recommend it enough for creating high quality visual supports in a quick and easy way.

Smarty symbols is an image base for creating your own resources and visual supports. You will be able to access over 30,000 different images by simply typing what you are looking for into the search bar. You can select from a range of templates such as image grids, First-then boards, interactive books, games, flashcards, writing templates, comic strips, etc.

One of my favorite things about Smarty Symbols is their range of diverse characters. Choose your images featuring characters of different gender, age, race, etc. This allows us to personalize our visual supports to our students and to ensure that our students identify themselves with the character in their supports.

Two beautiful little girls get visual supports that they can relate to.

Another thing I love about Smarty Symbols is how affordable it is. As I am a seller, I have a commercial subscription but for educators and parents who need daily access to new images to keep their student’s communication systems up to date and visual supports relevant, then a personal/professional account is what you need. You can sign up for the year for just $89.99/€87.68 or pay a monthly fee of $10.99/€10.71 via direct debit.
